A Swappy Story

"Everyone says the protagonist’s sprite looks terrible. That’s right. If it looks too good, you’ll have a different expectation."

—Toby Fox, Undertale™ Art Book

Concept

A Swappy Story is my personal take on Underswap. While Undertale is stylistically based on JRPG graphics and mechanics, A Swappy Story is based on crappy (affectionate) edutainment computer games, and is heavily stylistically inspired by the graphics of solnet.ee games and Gilead Success with Phonics in particular.

In terms of gameplay, A Swappy Story is a point-and-click game. In each area, there are five or so doors which each lead to a logic puzzle, of which you have to complete three variations. After completing these logic puzzles, you will have a monster encounter. Once you complete this encounter, you will get a checkmark for the door. Once you collect all the checkmarks in an area, you may encounter the final boss. Each area also has leisure activities that can award you items, such as memory games and colouring sheets.
