Rhinish
Julius, the mascot of most Rhinish learning resources, originally made for an alphabet poster.
Rhinish is my attempt at a pseudo-germlang (Germanic conlang) with influences from other languages (especially French) where appropriate. Aesthetically, I based it on Sambahsa, though unlike Sambahsa, this isn't an international auxiliary language, it's just a passion project.
Adjectives and Adverbs
Adjectives
In Rhinish, as in English and German, adjectives go before the noun they modify.
- a big house = a graut haus
- a beautiful cat = a bel kat
- cold weather = kald weder
Since grammatical gender has been collapsed, the only thing you have to worry about for adjectives is comparatives and superlatives (English has these in the form of big, bigger, biggest.)
- Normally, the suffixes added are -er for the comparative and -st for the superlative: blau, blauer, blaust.
- After a word-final -t, -d or -st, the superlative -st becomes -est: graut, grauter, grautest.
- To keep a vowel short, double a single final consonant before adding one of these suffixes: bel, beller, belst.
- For a long vowel before a single consonant, turn the long-vowel spelling into its equivalent single vowel: rood, roder, rodest.
Adverbs
Generally, adverbs in Rhinish look the same as their adjective equivalents. The suffix -weis is used exclusively when referring to how you feel about the action.
- Hei komt trist. (He came sadly; he was sad as he came.)
- Hei komt tristweis. (He sadly came; it is sad that he came.)
Colour Terms
As in English, French and German, Rhinish has these 11 basic colour terms:

You can prefix these colour terms with lichte- (light), dunkel- (dark), vif- (bright) or mute- (dull / muted).
